How to get your yacht delivered

Our process

How the YDUK yacht delivery service works:

Initial Enquiry

Once you have contacted us we will discuss your exact requirements to come up with the perfect solution for your delivery service.

Quotation

We will send you an all inclusive quotation, giving you the options to deliver your vessel in a way which meets your requirements and budget as well as our availability.

Confirmation

We will prepare the perfect delivery plan for you and confirm your departure date with a signed contract. Departure date will of course be weather dependant for the sake your vessel and our team! We can also help prepare and equip your yacht for the sea.

Briefing

You will be sent a pre-delivery briefing with everything you need to know about the delivery including planned passage details, crew experience and weather considerations.

Delivery

Once aboard we will carry out thorough checks of the vessel, rigging and equipment to insure the safety of your boat and our team. Then we will monitor the vessel and conditions on route to make sure everything goes smoothly and the crew receive the support they require. Your skipper will give you regular progress reports throughout.

Completion!

The job is not over as soon as we arrive. Before we head home we will always leave your vessel cleaner than we found it, fuelled up if required and all systems “put to bed”. If you are not available for a handover then we will also provide pictures on completion and a video of the delivery if desired.

FAQ

What Qualifications do the skippers have?

All our skippers are Commercially Endorsed Yachtmasters Offshore at a minimum. See more details of their experience and qualifications on our About Us page

What Qualifications do the crew have?

The crew qualifications can vary from Day Skipper up to Yachtmasters.  We have a very strong crew list made up over the years.  It is made up of ex-students from the Sailing School or from previously used crew.  We do sometimes open up crewing opportunities via Facebook or other social media, but they will all have to have a Day Skipper minimum with similar sailing experience to the delivery they are applying for.

Do you sail through the night?

Depending on the time of year and passage, our skippers will happily sail for 24hrs.  The aim is to get from A to B as safely and as efficiently as possible.

Do I have to provide food?

You do not have to provide food! Your delivery team will bring their own supplies and it is all included in the delivery quote.

Do I need to put fuel in the boat?
We would expect the boat to have full water and fuel tanks.  If this is not possible then it can be arranged with the skipper prior to joining the boat.

Do I need to provide a float?

You do not need to provide a float.

Will you clean my boat?

Our skippers and crew are carefully selected and are very conscientious of the boat.  At the very least we would leave the boat as when we found it, but as standard would wash all the toilets out, floors swept and moped and decks rinsed with fresh water.

What happens if the skipper thinks the boat isn’t seaworthy or the weather is bad?

Usually if something is not right with your yacht, our team will do all that they can to fix it. We do our absolute best to not cancel the delivery however the skipper will not sail if he feels the boat isn’t ready or the weather is not right.  The skippers decision will be final on this, however, our skippers sail in all kinds of weather and will often sail when most wouldn’t.  But they still have to put the safety of the crew and boat first.
